Beethoven: The Legacy of a Giant
PRE-PERFORMANCE LECTURE IS HOSTED BY KEY LECTURER JOSEPH KROMHOLZ.
Brahms once proclaimed, “I shall never write a symphony! You can’t have any idea what it’s like always to hear such a giant marching behind you!” That giant was Beethoven, and the shadow he cast over Brahms was nearly inescapable. Led by featured artists pianist Kyuyeon Kim (2011 Cleveland International Piano Competition Medalist), cellist Clive Greensmith, and Artistic Director Jinjoo Cho, ENCORE artists present masterworks by composers Schubert, Brahms and Schumann who followed in the revolutionary footsteps of Beethoven.
